Test results can take between 2 - 7 working days to come back.
If the doctor/nurse has asked you to telephone the practice for your test results, can you please ring after 2:00 pm. This gives time to ensure that the doctor has looked at your results and avoids the telephone lines being blocked during surgery times when patients need to book appointments.
It is important that you contact the surgery for your results, about 7-days after you have had the test (or earlier/later if recommended by the Doctor/Nurse).
Text Messaging Results
The doctors can now text you when your test results are back, providing you have consented to receiving text messages (If you would like to consent to receiving text messages please complete the following consent form) You may find that the message asks you to make a non-urgent phone or face to face appointment with the GP. A non-urgent appointment would generally be within 2 weeks and should ideally be with the GP who referred you for the test.
Please note therefore that when a non-urgent appointment has been recommended, you are unlikely to be able to speak or see to the doctor on the same day you receive the text message - reception will discuss available appointments within 2 weeks. This approach allows us to maintain our availability to provide urgent care
On a related note, an increasing number of patients now have online access to their records enabling patient to view test results when appropriate. Please enquire with if you would like to arrange this.
