Dementia and Hucknall Road Medical Centre

Hucknall Road Medical Centre has signed up to become dementia-friendly. We will be working with Alzheimer’s Society during the coming year and our staff will be participating in General Practice specific dementia awareness sessions. We will also be carrying out an assessment of how dementia-friendly we are and take steps to improve areas that need attention.

We welcome any feedback about how we are doing from patients, families and carers.

Included here are some useful contacts and links for support or advice if you are living with dementia or caring for someone with dementia.

Public Wi-Fi

Free public Wi-Fi is now available in the surgery. The landing page will guide you through the connection process and contains details of how to access their helpdesk.

Breast Screening Invite

All eligible women will shortly be invited for breast screening. This is a 3 yearly recall. The Breast screening age has been extended to 47 – 73 years as part of a research study into the risks and benefits of extending the age range to women who are slightly older or slightly younger than usual 50 -70 years. For more information please visit https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/breast-cancer-screening/Pages/Introduction.aspx

RESEARCH

Join Dementia Research is a new service that helps people to take part in dementia research studies.

It aims to accelerate the pace of dementia research by allowing people with and without dementia to register their interest in studies, helping researchers find the right participants at the right time.

The Join Dementia Research website offers a secure and easy way for someone to register their interest, discover studies that interest them, and ultimately connect with researchers to take part in their studies.

Anyone aged 18 years or over can sign up themselves, or on behalf of someone else, either by registering online or by contacting the helplines of Alzheimer’s Research UK (0300 111 5 111) and Alzheimer’s Society (0300 222 1122).

Join Dementia Research is a collaboration between the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Alzheimer’s Research UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer Scotland and UCL Partners, and has been funded by the Department of Health and NHS England.
